Anthony Pym: “Rebranding translation” (Recorded Lecture).
The second in the series of lectures to celebrate the golden jubilee of the Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw. 28 June 2022
Very instructive and not surprisingly so from Professor Pym, one of the greatest contemporary thinkers in our field.
Congratulations to the entire organising committee and Institute of Applied Linguistics for this wonderful opportunity. The subject is more than topical, especially so as that has been the mainstay behind explorations of METAGLOSSIA (the putative overarching frame from which professional translation, interpreting and intercultural communication is naturally/ethically expected to operate. Metaglossia, however, sees translation as a fully-fledged, autonomous (not the same as independent) discipline, whose proper development may only be effective if and when it is organised and managed strictly by well-(in)formed professionals!
#metaglossia mundus: HIGHLY-RECOMMENDED RECORDING
